@doctord43 Actually, it was Republican Congress in 1997 that voted for "most favored" nation status for China. It was Bill Clinton (Democrat) who agreed and signed "most favored" status into law -- he could have vetoed it, and Congress lacked the votes to override it. The jobs leaving and Bush taking office were simply a matter of timing; it takes a while to build factories (in China) and infrastructure to support them. About the time Bush took office, the Chinese factories were going on line.

Very, very, good point. Why don't we do it? We're Americans and peace and love will get us there right? Wrong, and at least there are still people like yourself that understand this situation.

Wow, how much he has done in his first year. You figure by the fourth year, he will have completely bankrupted this country, how's that for a "thank you".

It's been almost a year. Where are the jobs?
Why they're still in China where George W sent them. I thought Obama was going to bring them back? What happened? The only import duty he's imposed has been on tires. Nothing else. We need to compensate for China's lack of environmental controls, their lack of minimum wages, their lack of health and safety regulations, and their predatory marketing practices. Import duties can provide funds for job training programs for unemployed Americans.
