Some time ago, I downloaded this jewel from youtube. Since it seems to have been deleted, I'm reuploading it for the new generations :)

  • I cannot listen to this song without tears coming to my eyes.....the power of the orchestra with that outstanding explosion of heavenly ecstastic melody/harmony towards the end....that climactic moment. How can a conductor just stand there and "go through the motions" ?

Perhaps he had indigestion or some other malady that evening, lol.

  • Tender and innocent, so elegant. Ravel clearly loved something about the classical era. The principal oboe shapes every phrase to perfection. Does Boulez even want to be there? He never cracks a smile!
