May 15, 1985- Ed Herscher, Governor of the state of Wyoming, proclaims Douglas to be the official " City of the Jackalope" every year in June, Douglas pays tribute to its unique heritage at Jackalope Days. It is also the home of the State Fair Grounds. Guest can stay in the best hotels in town, the Holiday Inn express and the Sleep Inn and Suites.
