Through the U.S. Department of Education- there is an amount of over 150 million dollars available to eligible students who wish to go to college - but many students and their parents are unaware that this money even exists. Federal Student Aid is partnering with Houston ISD to increase awareness about the "Free Application For Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA)... and so are we. On the next Houston 8, we'll share details and information on the world of FAFSA, the application process, and how you could be receiving federal grant money for higher education.

GUESTS: Maisha K. Challenger, Awareness & Outreach Specialist U.S. Department of Education Office of Federal Student Aid and Nefertari Mundy, Manager of Counseling Services, HISD.

  • The FAFSA is crap. I applied for FAFSA and I didn't qualify for one frickin penny!!

  • And by the way, the application process is quite easy. It just look overwhelming, but the questions are straightforward and easy to answer. Just do it!

  • I'm glad Houston 8 is covering FAFSA. It funded practically my entire undergrad career. I couldn't have done it without it. I was informed during my senior year of high school during class visits to colleges and senior counseling. Perhaps, if more high schools implemented such activities, students and parents will be informed about FAFSA. Thank you =]
