Is there anywhere to get this music?
-
Have you guys noticed that in each of their solos, Jean Butler had the traditional irish music while Michael Flatley didn't?
-
Its from a show which is on RTE 2 i think on Friday nights called The Late Late Show it used to be hosted by Gay Byrne.

Níl a fhios agam cá bhfuair tú é seo, ach a rá liom: IS NACH Riverdance! Tá sé ar bhonn trialach, ar ceann iontach, dála an scéil. Dia a fhios cén fáth go bhfuil sé ghearradh amach! Go raibh maith agat as an am a roinnt draíochta le linn!

I have now uploaded this interview in two parts and it can be found here if anybody's interested. Apologies for the quality - audio and video fell out of sync during conversion.

This is a wonderful duet. Good to see Michael before his ego outgrew his britches and he started acting like the Almighty's gift to women!

I can't believe Jean said that during the time Riverdance was running she was smoking a pack a day! 8 ( Thanks for posting!! Love it! They were fantastic together :)
Yay! You fixed the out-of-sync problem. This really is much nicer with the sound right.

This footage is not taken from Riverdance; it's from a one-off performance on the Irish chatshow The Late Late Show on 25th November 1994. It was followed by Flatley's first performance of Distant Thunder with some of the male dancers from Riverdance, and an exclusive interview with Butler/Flatley in which they announced the premiere of Riverdance - The Show.
I have these, and some other Riverdance stuff, on VHS and can convert and upload if anyone's interested. You can contact me via Youtube.

No, it's not footage from the final product, but I believe this was a trial number which was obviously eliminated before the show premiered. Still Riverdance, though.

I'm pretty positive this isn't from Riverdance, but it's predecessor. Michael and Jean did this bit for the Eurovision song contest as an intermission number. That's what got the whole ball rolling toward making it a whole show.

No, this is not the Eurovision interval number. You can find that video here:
