My first video tutorial on how to apply the NMM technique to painting a crystal sword

This is my own version using a clamp and a piece of cardboard to do the work instead of using masking tapes.

Thanks to Les from APJ for the initial idea.

  • Excellent work! What were you using to hold the model?

  • @Generalsplatton It's a 'helping hand' thingy that comes with a magnifying glass - now I find it useless haha

  • how you get the paint in so quick? do you only put a little inside the cup?

  • @louwie616 - Hi. Yes, I only use a few drops of paint at a time - for this kinda work 1 drop of paint and 1 or 2 drops of thinner should be enough.

  • what is your airbrush ?

  • @JohnRoyco Hi- I use Iwata Eclipse

  • Why dont you just mask it with tape?? Would save you alot of trouble.

  • hey thanks bro i have been trying to find out how to get that look and so i just put a heavy wash on the base coat. it works, but ur method is alot better

  • This is an epic vid matey, I really want to do some swords like this, and this is a great vid for the technique. Many thanks.

  • dude whats the name of this track...i've searched daft punk tron soundtracks and nada came up? is it a remix? by the way cool vid xD

  • @Generalsplatton It's often used when soldering proabobly have it at radioshack ;)

  • @suriassassin Yes you could, with very thin layers you could attempt to glaze layer or blending to get the exact same effect. You will not be able to beat the even finish the airbrush will do but the overall effect can be attained.

  • chido, de que es esa espadita?

  • @nuclealosaur It's called a third hand.
