Cold starting a 1977 Honda 90 after being stood for weeks at a time. It almost didn't run because the battery was almost flat, however like a true Honda she fired up....

  • i had a 77 model in red back in 83... she coudl do 60 flat out and was fun to ride even with the quirky front suspension lol... i wonder where she is now

  • @Twilight1964 Thats the $64,000 Q - You can bet its in that great big scrap yard in the sky...

  • Probably one of the nicest unrestored Cubs I have ever seen. Just make sure to have service look it over at least once every 10 years. You don't want to destroy the engine just because something came loose or air escapes somewhere.

  • @umaxen01 Thanks for the nice comments. This bike isn't on the road right now, no problems with it, just not taxed and insured or MOT'd all comes down to cost and right now I have other expenses.

Thats very true in what you say, next time this bike comes out when the sun is shinning I shall change the engine oil and give it a once over...

    Thanks for watching :-)

  • these bikes are sloths

  • @RYANWALSHMX You mean classics...

Not on this one mate, there is a contact breaker on the side of the cylinder head driven off the camshaft. On the 90 power for the coil is taken from the battery, All C90's until CDI needed the battery to start. Only some of the 50's and 70's had the contact breaker behind the lfywheel and a magneto style ignition sytem. Also the headlights on this and later ZZ models ran straight off the battery. Only the 50's and 70's had the AC fed shunt regulated lighting.

  • @tnerual888 On the 90's those are only charging coils, if you kick the engine fast enough with a flat battery it will run but the 90's pre CDI won't run without a battery. The 50 and 70 use a magneto coil and AC lighting whilst the 90's use DC coil and whole electrical system. Hence the early 90's with a charged battery without the engine running will still power lights and if kicked slowly you will see the neutral light go dim as the contacts close. The RMS voltage is too low with no battery.

  • @killcar5nbike2 got parts manual and owners manual for all the works on the C series.. YOu can start it without The coils are still behind the flywheel!
