A hook knife (which I have) would have done nothing but cause me to lose altitude trying to figure out which line/s to cut.

Is it possible to recover from a line over instead of using the reserve? :/ Also did you find your main chute?

I have seen people recover from a line over malfunction before by "pumping the brakes". I would not fight it for very long under a spinning camopy close to a final decision altitude. Yes, I did find all of my equipment. It all landed within 500 yds of me.
