We wanted to share the very negative side of Coco. We love him dearly, but this is such a loud noise the neighbors can hear through the walls of our house. We also wanted to show everyone that Cockatoos are notorious for this sound. He does this everyday. It is something you have to deal with if you have a Cockatoo.

  • Well she likes to go through some type of vocal tantrums around 8 every night. It only last about 3 or 5 minutes. I do not respond in any way. If you think of anything that may help please let me know.

  • He loves to say AFLACK...... yes its true just like the insurance company

  • cool thanks for the ideas and comments

  • Also want to add for everyone to not forget to turn your volume up COMPLETELY...& it will still not be as loud as these beautiful creatures are in person.

They can permanently hurt your hearing...I have three Scarlet Macaws that relish squealing with delight at me wearing earplugs by times..lol

    Toos are EVEN louder!!

Coco is still a darling though...Mr. Hyde or not!! ;O)

  • @sue345sue

You are exactly correct. I do so love her but sometimes I want to ring her neck :)

  • It does sound like she yells AFLAC!!! We have said that many times :)

  • "sometimes, nothing makes him happy"

lmao sounds like the description of an abusive relationship. The screaming sounds like it's from a horror movie too. xD

  • I watch all of your videos and I have a Hahn's Macaw. That little teenie thing can blow my hearing out in two seconds. I'm very glad you posted this so people who are relatively ignorant about parrots and their behavior will see this and rethink having a cute, cuddy 2. Coco is properly cared for in every way and we're seeing the reality of an undomesticated, wild animal. This is just Coco being a Cockatoo! Kisses from me.

  • lol what a brat

  • I think it's great you posted this about Coco. Most people do NOT know just how loud parrots can be.

  • @zapranoth My parrot does the same thing when he's upset about my cockatiels' noise.

  • does there seem to be any reason behind why they do this? is it for attention, or because they are moody animals? or is it merely something they do in the wild as a way of finding mates and they cannot control it? im a psych major and maybe its the doctor in me that sees this and wonders at a solution using training, or if it is something that can even be dealt with through behavior correction.

  • @sue345sue But they are so loving :P and they even like to cuddle true more when they are young but very attention grubbing and not shy about saying it. Birds will be birds thou.

  • This is because he is alone. A pair of cockatoos would never make this sounds, because they doesn't feel lonely and Coco is just screaming for you. you are his only social partner and he feels lonely. they are very social and faithful animals!

  • Does he do that 'clacking'? Peaches will use her beak and feet against the bars of her cage to make this clacking noise she uses to voice her displeasure when the screeching doesn't work on us.

  • Yep, those screams are ear splitting!! It's so strange that they're soooo sweet & loving, but scream to high heaven.

  • yea i couldnt handle that
