My Choice - Barbara Bonney: Ave Maria (Immaculate Conception)

The beautiful Ave Maria by Franz Schubert, sung by the great American Soprano, Barbara Bonney. We're showing several photos of paintings of the Immaculate Conception, photos of painting and statue in Cospicua, Malta, and finishing with highlights of the procession of the Immaculate Conception held at Victoria Gozo, Malta.

Some of the montages shown were done by Betty Bugeja and by Jasmine Grech.

Bonney was born in Montclair, New Jersey. As a child she studied piano and cello. When Bonney was 13 her family moved to Maine, where she became part of the Portland Youth Orchestra as a cellist.

She spent two years at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) studying German and music including voice with Patricia Stedry, and spent her junior year at the University of Salzburg, where she switched from cello to voice.

While there, she studied at the Mozarteum. Years later she received an honorary doctorate from UNH.

What a glorious voice! Barbara Bonney sings with a great deal of clarity and coviction and this is a beautiful rendition of this wonderful music. The graphics you chose were perfect, especially those of the "procession". Thank you Jasmine and Alfred for this lovely video.
