  • My Mum was on RSG a couple of times. They picked her out at Streatham Locarno. Apparently there is one episode which closes out on a member of the audience and its my mum blowing her bubble gum. I would like to track that episode down. My mum's best friend worked for EMI records in the 60s and suffice to say my Mum had some very interesting records - Jimmy Radcliffe, Invitiations. She told me that Popcorn Wylie - Brand New Man was the first record she bought.

  • @Variotronic09 any idea who guested on the episode, there's a few in circulation but not many

  • This brought back so many good memories. I was on RSG about 4 or 5 times. Just loved it. Got balled out by the floor manager once for looking bored when Tom Jones was on singing It's Not Unusual (if anybody has got a clip fo that would love to see it).

RSG really did set the weekend off. If my memory serves me right, and I am 60 now so it might not nowadays, but it used to be Batman at 6.30 followed by RSG at 7pm and then suited and booted and out on the Lambretta TV175.

    Ah good days.

  • cool, i have a few shows, i'll try and have a check at the weekend for TJ one, but if not someone else might be able to dig it up.

  • 5:34 to the end,the dance the couple is leading is called the "hitchhike". "Gonna make him mine" is sung by the Orchids,a schoolgirl group from Coventry. And finally you can see the Beatles and Helen Shapiro in the background.

  • thanks for that....

  • Funny how some things just never change...

  • this was really the start of the weekend i was 15 in 1964 working buying clothes going to clubs all over the south coast and up west ( at 15 its incedable to think of it) I loved it all will never get that good again. Mod was real working class having fun and looking bloody good and dancing all night BLOCKED TO fuck loverly.

  • how i envied those lucky enough to get into RSG! Funny, looking at the audiences now, maybe not so much.................awww, come on I was envious......!

  • @dallaskenn At 6:01?

  • @blacflag No unfortunately I don't know who was on it. My Mum is not well at the moment. The chance of her recollecting further is slim. They should really release all these shows in a box set. Is it Dave Clark who still owns all the rights? This material should be fully archived before it is lost. This is about real working class youth culture - the Mods

  • @80sVideoLord Its PJ Proby singing Hold Me.

  • what's the second song? who is the band? anyone know? great little tune. great post
