It seems like you could have put anyone in the watching TV role. Why did you pick Artie? You didn't throw in anything unique to Artie. He's actually said on the Stern show that he can't fart because if he tries to he gets too close to defecating. Are you a Stern show fan?

I am a huge fan. But, the Artie character while its based on Artie from the Stern Show, was not intended to be a parody of him and not supposed to actually be 'Artie Lange'. I needed someone to fit the role of a fat beer guzzling couch potato and I thought he would fit the character. I really was just going for the look and I thought 'Artie' would be a funny name for the main character.
