also... i beg to disagree tripod863. providing support for the queer community online doesn't make the institution look like a queer-driven sorority. if that was true, then do the campus-wide parties and the subsequent photos that get posted on the internet make wellesley look like a party school?

Proud to be a Wellesley alumna. I had lots of lesbian friends at school, and most are married with kids. Glad there are ways to show solidarity with kids who are still in high school. It does get better!

Good work Wellesley! As a Wellesley Alum from the time in the "dark ages" when few women were coming out, it is refreshing to see you young people so proud and so willing to contribute to the "It Gets Better Project" to help others along their way. I am so glad this new generation is changing things in the world. I will work to do what I can to make this world a just and equitable place for the LGBTQI community. All Wellesley Alumnae should do so!

Is there a gender gap? Inspiring "It gets better" videos have been made by groups of awesome women students. Yet the suicides publicised last year were young men. There is no video featuring a group of male students comparable to yourselves. Instead there are individuals, couples - and it's notable that videos dealing with gay men all prompt pages of homophobic "comments". You are so upbeat, whereas the guys speak only of enduring, surviving. "It gets better" - that's all. What do you think?

I'm an alum, as well, and the only reason Wellesley wouldn't be a great prep for the real world is because liberal arts education in general is less career-oriented than other academic programs. Otherwise, who gives a shit how we behave socially? Tufts students run around naked in Somerville once a year, and they get jobs, lol.
