@stormember1 Yes, he died. But he left a legacy of these beautiful songs. We the South Vietnamese appreciate the help from our allies and we do not consider it "b.s." as someone so elegantly put it.

@stormember1 As some mentioned-he was shot in the head in Guatemala whilst in a taxi on his way home late one night. Most likely accidentally by himself, when he pulled his gun after seeing someone on a corner brandishing a gun. He died a year later in Kentucy-1989 age 49. Unfortunately-he wasted his fortune within a few years and ended-up in Nashville bars telling war stories. He did make money from books, but wasted his career with bad decisions and choices. He should have stayed in the Army.
