I was told that by a Japanese man who use to work for Nissan in the 70's right through to the 90's. I don't think that was the main reason for using the 'Datsun' brand, rather than Nissan, but it does offer an interesting insight into what the marketing team in Japan was thinking. If you don't agree that's fine man.

@TheSiqLad They just told you why they used the Datsun name in the video and openly say something different. Good job.

Nissan built tanks in WW2. The decided to use the name 'Datsun' in overseas markets (USA, AUS) so as not to offend ex-servicemen. This was one reason for the branding change.

Proud owner of two Jaguar rip offs myself. They are a bitch to keep running. Weren't really built to last. Kind of cramped, and disappointingly not as fast as they should be. I'm still trying to find the power in mine. Don't think they really became fast until the twin turbo, and there is no way I can afford that, let alone would ever want to work on that horrible sardine packed engine bay. But if you have lots of time and put in a *lot* of work, the poor man's junkyard sports car.

I think about restoring it every day, but there is a big difference between dreaming and reality. Im thinking of keeping it till i retire and when i have enough funds ill restore it.
