First I understand that youtube needs content that advertisers want to advertise upon.
I know these sponsors need a better face to advertise on than a lot of the user generator stuff now. I get that Coke, General Mills, Burger King, etc do not want to advertise on teen booty dance vids, Fred, or a 12 year old ranting about a sonic game.
So I am fine with youtube wanting to expand the invisibility of more commercial advertiser friendly content, but DO NOT PHASE OUT THE COMMUNITY just so you can dictate what you want to be popular.
Fix the DMCA policy issues, or trust me even the larger content providers will feel the effects of these problems.
Why do I care? Well at first I didn't care about visibility. I felt that what I made was for my own sake and not the world's. I liked being independent, and I liked knowing that not everyone was gonna get the jokes or wonder about things the way I did. I felt that way until one day I decided that I wanted to better my skills with user feedback, and in this I am not alone.
I understand there's no way I can compete with the big boys, but at the same time I do not feel like I should be banned from the race.
Ps. That is an awesome image for Disney. :)
