Mance Lipscomb tells the story and sings the song, "Freddy," explaining that he made up his guitar arrangement to a song that he heard sung one evening in 1917, by a guy named "Big George." He tells how Freddy sung his way out of Marlin jail by singing this song, and Big George brought the song to Navasota.

  • Great stuff. I could listen to these all day. Loved the statue by the way, one day i' ll make it there. Please post more if you have or link to where we can buy these

  • @MrBlindBart I'm glad you enjoy them. I plan to upload more of these 1966 interviews, as I get time to do so. It takes a while to convert these old tapes to electronic form and then add them to slide show and put them in the right format for YouTube. But I will try to find time to add more of them.
