Dick Van Dyke & company virtually channel the future of banking instability AND ITS CAUSES in this wonderful Mary Poppins scene. The original scene from the movie is "pactically perfect in every way", but I wanted to have some fun. [Some say this is not a really great movie... but I've completely changed my mind: it's like a bank full of sugar.]

  • you know that this movie takes place in 1910, that 99 years ago that doesn't mean British Banks are like that now.

  • Greetings ThatsGoodTellivision,

Given recent actual (small) runs on British banks, the whole British offshore-Iceland debacle, and the continued bailouts of British and American banks, I really do not understand your comment at all. Kindly explain. Cheers.

  • Hey, gimme my money. BANKSTERS stole it from me.

  • Has anyone noticed the major flaw in this scene? If you look in certain scenes, the door to the bank is closed, and the curtains on the windows appeared to be drawn. If this was how it was, how the hell would the people outside at 2:03 been able to tell what was happening inside if it was blocked?

  • eat your heart out Bernanke.

  • Anyone know the old man was dick van dyke?:)

  • @ThatsGoodTellivision It takes place in 1910, but it was filmed in 1964 with no regard to historical accuracy.

  • I bet this didn't happen at Northern Rock!

  • @OhSleeperAwake ...Yeah. That didn't happen. Way to bastardize Pearl Harbor.

Sidenote: AWESOME clip, love it! LOL

  • 'give it back! give me back my money!'

  • This reminds me of the scene of the stock market crash rush on the bank in It's A Wonderful with Jimmy Stewart. In that, they save the town through some kind of co-operative, I think.
