Loads of cars out for the first MSE track day of 09 - Managed to get out on the track straight after the lunch break when everyone else was still scoffing burgers. Best session of the day as at other times it was like the M25 at rush hour! Chasing Mike again in his (now even lighter), sh1t-to-a-blanket grippy full track day prepped V6 MR2. This time though I didn't have any success ballast and succeded in passing him after a couple of laps. Note the black flags coming out right at the end - they were for Mike who obliterated some cones! Hoping to get the footage from his camera on this session for some 'parallel action'..?

  • The elise looks S1 and stock, that shouldn't provide for more than 190hp....

  • @MerlinofChaos - Who said anything about it being more than 190hp? The Elise is only 118bhp out of the factory so it's definitely not running any more than that!

  • @cheezechaser I know, I was just implying that a lotus elise s gets 190hp.

There's different versions/trims of the Lotus Elise, but either way, the MR2 V6 will win for sure (UNLESS we're talking about some of the highly modified elise S1's :D)

  • @MerlinofChaos I see, I'd love for my Elise to have 190bhp! My Elise is pretty much standard and out on track there is very little between the 2 cars. If anything, (having driven the MR2 also) it is not the power of the MR2 that should give it the edge over the Elise but the tyres and suspension. The MR2 has fully adjustable coilovers and Toyo R888 road legal slicks and the Elise has standard suspension and Yokohama road tyres. Believe me, the difference in handling out on track is enormous.

  • I was in the orange golf that day, was a good day, didnt realise the MR2 had a V6! Got any more videos of me in shot? No-one has put up any other videos of the day...

  • I think that's the best shot I have of you in the tangerine dream! Considering how many cars had cameras in I'm surprised not to see more videos posted up.

  • Do you just use the Elise for track or do you also daily drive it? Or.. How often do you drive it outside of track if it isn't specifically for track? I guess is what I am asking.

  • Thanks! I think the V6 is from a Camray (?) - makes a lovely noise off the line and with the Tein Coilovers and the R888s it's a very well planted car - impeccable track manners compared to the Elise! Can't knock these airfield days for value but they quite harsh on the car. Would like something a bit more smooth and flowing next time - hoping to do Donington, Oulton and Anglesey this year. What's next on your track day calendar?

  • Good work CC!! What V6 is that in the MR2 though?

Wished I hadn't have cancelled, still, there's all year to get back there :)
