BACKGROUND ON JACOB FORSYTH

Studied classical and jazz trumpet 2002-present, private instruction. 1st chair in award-winning Mamaroneck High School (MHS) Jazz A band, concert band, symphony orchestra and pep band. Also earned seats via audition on Area All-State/All-County Bands each year since 2003 and All County High School Jazz Bands each year since 2008. Voluntary trumpet instructor for Songcatchers, Inc. an after school music program for disadvantaged children. Also plays in church and community events on an ad hoc basis, both voluntarily and paid.

SAMPLE REPERTOIRE OF MHS JAZZ BAND: "Manteca," Dizzy Gillespie; "Better Get Hit in Your Soul," Charles Mingus; "Central Park North," Thad Jones; "Footpath Café," Duke Ellington; "Coconut Champagne," Denis DiBlasio; "The Chicken," Alfred Ellis; "Some Skunk Funk," Brecker Brothers; "Danny Boy" (featured trumpeter).

While a member of the MHS Jazz Band A , band won many awards including honorable mention in the Berklee High School Jazz Festival in 2009.

Paid performer with the Iona College Pep Band (2010-11).
