"A.I.Artificial Intelligence" is a 2001 science fiction film directed, co-produced and co-written by Steven Spielberg. Based on Brian Aldiss' short story "Super-Toys Last All Summer Long", the film stars Haley Joel Osment, Frances O'Connor, Jude Law, Sam Robards, Jake Thomas and William Hurt. Set sometime in the future, A.I. tells the story of David, a child-like android programmed with the unique ability to love.

Development of A.I. originally began with Stanley Kubrick in the early 1970s. Kubrick hired a series of writers up until the mid-1990s, including Brian Aldiss, Bob Shaw, Ian Watson and Sara Maitland. The film languished in development hell for years because Kubrick felt computer-generated imagery was not advanced enough to create the David character, whom he believed no child actor would believably portray. In 1995 Kubrick handed A.I. to Steven Spielberg, but the film did not gain momentum until Kubrick's death in 1999. Spielberg remained close to Watson's film treatment for the screenplay, and replicated Kubrick's secretive style of filmmaking. A.I. was greeted with mostly positive reviews from critics and became a moderate financial success. This film was dedicated to Kubrick's memory with a small credit after the credits, saying "For Stanley Kubrick". (source: wikipedia.org)

  • stanley kubrick knew theres only one kind of people whod want a vhild that never aged, that was going to be his underlying meaning

  • I feel bad after this movie for 2 weeks... It's a unforgottable movie, one of my favorite for all times.

  • i havent seen that movie in years

i seen it when i was little as a baby

it was an amazing movie and im surprised i remember it

  • great fIlm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • (cont.) jaws (broke record as the biggest money maker of all time), close enouncters, raiders, E.T. (again broke the record), jurassic park (AGAIN broke the record), shindler's list (same year as jurassic!!), saving private ryan, war of the worlds and the last indy movie (not a great movie by any means, but made dumptrucks of cash). it's mind blowing. the guy has 3 fucking HUGE movies in production right now.

  • it's weird to think about it. people who've had only one big breakout hit and then relative disappointment after disappointment (m night shyamalan (goes without saying) zak snyder (300 was profitable as hell) and the like still have tons of clout in the business. they can more or less get a project made on their name alone (though both of those examples have released MASSIVE stinkers recently, m night im looking more in your direction.) so its weird to think how much weight spielberg's got.

  • @dav956able I saw The Exorcist when i was 6, can't imagine....

  • i saw half of this when i was 5 it horrified me

  • i love this movie :D<33 my all time favorite
