  • Elinor portrays a beautiful graceful strong woman. She does a beautiful job as an actress.

  • "After all... that is bewitching in the idea of one's happiness entirely depending on one person, it is not always possible and we must accept." I love that!

One of my favorite scenes of my favorite movie!! Thanks for the post.

  • "Had I not been bound to silence, I could have produced proof enough of a broken heart, even for you."

Why am I the modern day equivalent of Elinor? You know, I think every woman has felt like both of these girls at least once in their lives.

  • Love love love it. Gets me teary every time I watch this scene!

  • Kate Winslet is my favorite actress, but I hold Emma Thompson's acting in this and in Remains of the Day to be the finest I've ever seen. Not overly dramatic, but highly intelligent and very, very real. She conveys more information with her eyes than anyone I've ever seen.

  • @seagirl1481 OH I see. Thank you! Great analysis!!

  • @Victorian9322 Both - Marianne is deeply upset by this news because she hoped that Elinor would at least find happiness with Edward, after her own misfortunes with Willouby. Remember, Marianne did not know previously that Edward and Lucy were connected. Her cries are profound in this scene due to her feeling the loss of men they each loved.

  • Did Marianne cry for herself or for Elinor?

  • @TheBlackdove81 that's definately my favorite quote too! ^^

  • Some one here in youtube uploaded the whole movie -and now I can't find it! :((((((
