This is a patch I made up in my AxeFx Standard. It's based on the Class A sim (Vox AC30) + a couple of cabs (panned Left and Right) and a little bit of room reverb.
You can see how I modify some parameters on the fly and what effect these modifications have in the sound.
I'm using my Fernandes strat with Seymour Duncan PUs (SSL1). I go changing pickups several times and rolling on and off the volume knob throughout the demo.

  • man is that ever tasty!

  • @V100BB

    People yet have to manage to tell good modelling amps and tube amps apart in double blind studies.

  • Tone discussion is a lot like a religious discussion. We've always done it this way so anything new or progressive must be bad.

  • @V100BB triple rec

  • @SevenStringShredHead Mate if it sounds just as good you must have a pretty poor tube amp.

  • @V100BB i do have a real tube amp, but i run an axe fx into two balanced speakers, sounds just as good, with 10,000x more flexibility

  • @SevenStringShredHead Crank a real tube amp, then come back to his comment. I've owned loads of Line 6 modelling amps, you think they sound good ;til you get a real amp. Tube amps have a personality and this irreplacable feel that a computer just cant match.

  • @davek71 i'm pretty sure when you take a tube amp apart you'll find lots of circuits and wires, but no hearts or souls

  • @davek71 Tube snobbery. A real amp is still a pile of circuitry and wires. Most such depictions of sould come from either an unwillingness to move to something new/plain nostalgia/narrowminded "my way is better". Do what you prefer to get your tone from. If someone can get good tone from a digital unit, dont bash it just because its digital. You prefer the old fashioned way, you go ahead with it. Simple.

    Computer=/=bad. Poor settings=bad.

    Its not that hard to make an SLO sound like a Spider IV.

  • @davek71 Agreed with 'An AxeFx is just a computer' - that is exactly what it is. I think my good old Commodore 64 has grown a soul in it since the 80s too. Peace!
