Fan Ogilvie, West Tisbury Poet Laureate on the island of Martha's Vineyard, reads her poem, "Seeking Water," at the WATER IS LIFE event. Fan's reading was part of the National Geographic / World Waterway weekend event on Martha's Vineyard to celebrate the launch of Nat Geo's new book, "Written in Water, Messages of Hope for Earth's Most Precious Resource." This event was produced at the Old Whaling Church in the town of Edgartown by William Waterway Marks.
This WATER IS LIFE event also featured performances by the world-renowned Native American flutist, R. Carlos Nakai; the Martha's Vineyard Minnesingers; singer/songwriter Katie Mayhew, and opening music by Mary Wolverton with Gregg Harcourt.
"Written in Water" is edited by Irena Salina, and was recently voted in 2010 as one of the top ten books by the "Billionaire's Book Club."
