On July 13, 2009, the old rink in Caronport was demolished. The rink was originally a hangar built for the BCATP (The British Commonwealth Air Training Plan) during World War II. After that, it became part of the Briercrest College and Seminary campus and was used primarily as a hockey rink, but also contained apartments and storage areas. The building was condemned and destined to come down. However, it seemed quite robust when it took over an hour to pull it down!
Back in 72 and 73 I used to spray water on the ice every few hours in this building. We would sleep for a few hours and come and put on another layer of ice. Keeping the ice in shape was a major concern.

I lived in one of the hangar compartments back between 1980 and 1982. It was great! Hockey every night during the winter. The apartment was later converted into the Cougar dressing room. The skate sharpening room was the old kitchen. It was weird returning as a CHS student in 1993 doing my student work in that room.

Thanks for posting! We were in town visiting from July 4-8th and again from the 18-19. Saw the before and after, but not the big moment.
