I demonstrate (in my 4G63 powered 1989 Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo) why owning a high powered front wheel drive car can be a little complicated at times.

  • Really, the most power a FWD car can handle without major torque steer is about 250 or so. The front wheels are supposed to be for steering the car, not for propulsion. That's why RWD is superior in almost every way to FWD. I've never owned a FWD car. And I never will. It's my motto that FWD is for sissies and real men drive RWD. But to each his own, I suppose.

  • @tjhaywood100 Ok you 'real man' you! I own RWD, FWD and AWD cars and while I agree FWD is inferior for producing ultimate vehicle dynamics, this car never torque steered, it simply spun it's tires, which is why I could take videos like this while driving with the wheels spinning at 110mph. I credit the thick, equal length axles for this amazing feat. I prefer a powerful AWD car to a comparable RWD car for lots of reasons.

  • I love people who thinks that this is real and accurate

  • STFU Troll. It's real and if you don't believe the video is real, watch a few of my other videos of this car in action. On top of that, what exactly do you think happens when you mix 450+hp to the wheels with FWD?

  • Since im pushing just about 400whp in a 2000 and mine doesn't do this, it either means

A: You need to learn to drive

    B: Your speedo is broke

  • Stop while you're ahead! More words are just making you look more stupid.

  • @tjhaywood100 i own a FWD car and i feel ashamed to own one, thats why im getting an SUV, with part time 4 wheel drive as thats what i need anyway(it's still the FR layout but has an extra set of drive wheels in the front when needed), and i'll never own another FWD car again

  • FWD is only good on economy cars. RWD MRWD or AWD will always dominate performance.

  • @KJBPSkipper Yeah. The Mark VII was notorious for its air suspension problems. The Mark VIII was a vast improvement. I replaced the front air springs on mine at 175K miles and the rears are still original. Thankfully, I only have 2 kids, so the 'Stang works fine. And I have an Explorer when 4 doors are needed. But your point is well taken. I'm just thankful that my wife and I both have pretty good jobs.

  • @tjhaywood100 I would not own another lincoln,I had a 91 lsc 5.0 h.o and had constant probs with the air bags, and electronics, and mustangs dont work well with three kids sir.I am just not going to worry about it for now, because I see forcoming economic probs for all of us soon,so just feeding ourselves and having shelter will only matter.peace.

  • @KJBPSkipper Curious. Where's "here". I bought my '97 Mark VIII LSC for $2k and have spent less than $500 on parts in the past three years. We bought my wife's '96 SVT Cobra convertible for less than blue book value with 46K miles on it and I have spent zero on repairs since we got it. Plus parts for fox Mustangs are cheap and plentiful. The Mark VIII is a different story. Good thing it's a solid and reliable car. I'm sure you could find a good, old RWD car for cheap somewhere.

  • @tjhaywood100 Well unfortunatly, driving old school here still means you need the green to drive that, and parts are becoming scarce for ther old stuff to.........all good things come to a end sir.

  • @KJBPSkipper You're right. The superiority of RWD had become a premium feature only found on higher priced cars these days. And that is unfortunate. For me, that means that until I win the lottery, I'll have to continue to drive older cars until some company makes a RWD car I can afford.

  • @Str8pipedRanger it depends on the tire size, gear ratios...... shit like that to,and you have to be able to drive, and if you have 400 whp with fwd,you must have equal length shafts or something, your sayin you have no torque steer!? Please. We all did not fall off the turnip truck yesterday.

  • @tjhaywood100 You make the great point, but, when the auto makers don't offer these great rwd machines in the masses for the masses, what to do?Be real here, what affordable rwd CARS are there.........not evrybody is loaded to the max to spend 30-100 grand for rwd,and not evrybody like suv's and trucks?I have a fwd car that has 220hp and 240ftlbs at the wheels, and even with not so great gear ratios,it becomes a battle in wet weather to drive.ANY IDEAS?

  • @miniimoto95 Hahahahaha!
