rome. giulio casablanca is a chess player who lives with clandestine bets, he drinks whisky and hes tormented by marlenes death, his beloved girlfriend.
every day he goes to her grave to place there a chess piece, the white queen, promising her of revenging her death. and he finally find the courage to do it.
armed with a gun, he goes to the butcher shop of truce, a loan shark who plays chess, and he defies him...
