The Synth Tech MOTM-485 GX-1 is not your ordinary VCF! I received mine a few days ago and this demo hopes to show some of the more unusual effect it can help to create.

  • Wow, this filter is fantastic. Do you find yourself, you know, actually using it often, or is it kinda more of an exotic flavor?

  • @blwvideo Thanks again Brian! While most of the time it's not a "go to" filter but, I do use it fairly often, probably as often or even more often than my MOTM-490 but, that may be misleading since the MOTM-490 usually gets benched in favor of the MOTM-440 if it's not already being used! ;-) I think it is very good at exceptional exocticness AND exception subtlety, but maybe not as useful for middle of the road stereo-typical in your face VCF sounds.

  • @JohnLRice Boy, between this and the kitty video, I'm having trouble sitting on my hands to keep from buying that used one. Unfortunately, I will be owing Gert an awful lot of money soon. (Of course, that is both happy and sad.)

  • @blwvideo Cool, where are your lunar travels going to take you? (besides "to the cleaners"? ;-)

  • First of all thanks for all the videos you've posted...it seems like you're the only one making himself some time for others to see/understand/compare various types of modules and this has to be saluted. I have one question which may not be relevant...but, from all brands you have in your modular synthesizer (motm, cotk, etc) which one you find to have the warmest sound? Thanks again and keep on synthesizing...

  • @JupiterSynth Thank you for your kind words and support! :-) There quite a few people posting good demo videos these days though. For instance chaeck out the works done by 7thDanSound who also made a comment here.

As for "which brand is the warmest" question, I don't think there really is an answer to that, not one I can make at least since I don't have all the same modules from all manufacturers (I wish I did! ;-) I'm pretty sure any brand can get you warm, cold, gentle or harsh sounds! :-)

  • I've been checking out modular videos for the a while now and all the ones you've posted are by far the best I've seen. Your approach is very organic and extremely musical. I'm trying to pick out which modules I'd like to buy and your videos have sold me!! Can you tell me exactly which ones are being used from 4:02 onwards? The effect you've created is truly brilliant and exactly along the lines of what I'm looking for. Wasn't sure what in your list was being used in the section. Thanks!!

  • @JohnLRice I'll drop you a pm on that in a bit. ;-)

  • @JohnLRice That's really cool John, thanks for explaining!

  • @droolmaster0 Thank you for your kind words! :-)
