3 years with this incredible horse.
I'll just say this;
I'm so glad I never gave up on him. I'm not gonna pretend like it never crossed my mind. I never seriously thought about selling him but I certainly fantasized about having a more trained horse or a horse with less "baggage".
'Everybody bleeds this way, just the same'— this lyric just stuck out to me because now that I can look back and reflect on our time together and watch other partnerships between horses and humans begin to grow, it's easy to see that what we went through isn't all that uncommon. When you're dealing with a green horse, I feel like it's normal to feel like everyone else has it easy and you're in a tough place by yourself but in reality, it's natural to be frustrated, to have hard times, and honestly, to feel like giving up.
Thank goodness I didn't.
I wouldn't trade Hershey for the most trained, bombproof, "perfect" horse out there because nothing could compare to how much he's taught me but more importantly how happy he makes me.
So thank you, big man. Thank you for teaching me to ride, to work with horses, and to be patient. Thank you for putting up with my ridiculousness. Thank you for not punishing me for leaving you and for still being the same horse when I come home after not being around for a month. Thank you for making the past 3 years the best years of my life.
Cheers to many more.

So I'm home for the whole week for Thanksgiving. I've been at the barn every day and while we're not quite as in tune as we were before I left, I'm shocked at how much of what we learned together he's retained. He's still my little man. He still comes over to me and trusts that if I'm telling him to do something, it's the right decision. I love him so so much.
I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving and break!
I know I'm thankful for all the wonderful support you guys have given me over the past few years. It's incredible to know that so many of you are out there :)
Please feel free to comment and whatnot!

What you and Hershey have between eachother is beyond what words can explain. The two of you have grown so much together in such a short amount of time. Watching you guys on a video is amazing, but it doesn't compair to real life. Seeing how he turns to you when something isn't right, and the amount of trust and respect that he holds to you is beautiful. I hope that you are proud of yourself, because not many people would have given him the chance at life that you did.
