Astro Van cruise by and idle with ZZ3 350 crate motor

The last video footage I have of my 87 Astro with a V8 ZZ3 crate motor. Nothing too exciting in this video other than a nice sound that I certainly miss hearing. Exhaust was true dual 2.5" with Flowmasters and tail pipes. Later I shortened it to turn downs and added a crossover pipe for a smoother sound. AFR 195 heads, Lunati hyd roller cam 232/242 @ .050 lift: .530"/.525" 110 lobe sep, 10" converter and a TH350 transmission and a very poorly matched rear ratio of 3.08:1. No, I do not have it any more. It was taken apart in 2003, and yes, it was an absolute blast to drive as a daily driver for three years!

now did that engine drop right in or did you have to custom fit it?

@lal5555f It is a drop in fit pretty much. The only major change was a set of V8 Astro engine mounts for about $80. For headers I used Hedmann 68600 shorties. Tons of fun!

what series flowmasters are they? i've been looking for that sound for a while. i have shorty headers and 2.5inch duals as well except its a 390 Ford. i'm currently running super 44s but it doesn't sound as loud, just deeper and a little quieter

I can't remember what I had on there, but it seems like 3 chambers because I bought them at a local auto parts store. What helped the mellow the sound most was the crossover pipe and not having the tail pipes.
