Demo video of i_AM: interactive soundmachine.

With this interactive social soundmachine, visitors of a public space can create live electronic music together, using tangible objects on a tabletop as their physical interface.

Through this creative activity the users also make first casual contact with other visitors by means of music.

This media installation is created by Ramon Schreuder - Amsterdam (NL), 2006.

We made the whole media framework ourselves, so it's not based on a synth...

This would be pretty cool in a public space, although you'd have trouble preventing people from stealing the controls.

funny you say that, because that was actually my original idea... connecting people with each other through the use of sound/music and computation!

but i guess i should try more 'controlled' semi-public spaces like clubs & bars first yeah...
