Giant Pandas eating bamboo

Most of the Giant Pandas we watched at the Giant Panda Research and Breeding Facility in Chengdu, China, were eating bamboo - the adults have to eat bamboo for 16 hours a day to gain enough nutrition from the plant!

if it's just nutrition that the panda needs....can we use machines to squeeze the juice out of the bamboos and have the pandas drink it? This way, the pandas can use that 16 hours of bamboo eating time to do other things? Like play and run around more for our entertainment purposes? :p
