This 1970 Newport has only 137 true miles, Yes only 137 miles on her.
The car itself has had a different history, thus this is why the very low original miles. The car was ordered from Chrysler and delivered to Reed motors in Bellfonte, Pa. when the car was being backed off the carrier the driver got to close to the side of the carrier and did contact it. He damaged the drivers door and scuffed the quarter paint.
The dealer refused delivery of the car at this time the car had 7 miles on it. The car stayed at the dealer for a little while. The car could not go back to the factory so Chrysler donated the car to the Centre County Vocational-Technical School to be used as an project for their automotive class. The car has since then switched hands when it was sold from the school to a private person that never used the car and the last that put a total of 120 miles on her. If anyone has any questions please feel free to call me at 570-875-7109. Thanks, Marty

  • great car story. how much did it seel for ?

  • Hi, the car sold for $12,500. It would of gotten more but the history is great but it does take away from the value. If it still was the original paint on it with the original Vin # still entact it would have been in the mid to upper $30,000 range. I saw a 1972 120 original mile Buick staton wagon that was untouched go for $42,000 I could not belive it but it did. Thanks, Marty

  • Hi, everyone the Newport has been sold to a gentleman in North Dakota. Thanks, Marty

  • I'll buy it right now.

  • The best thing about this car is that it was garaged and there appears to be zero rust. That's so rare for these Chryslers-they had awful rubber trim and seals which were promote rust in any state if water leaked and sat any place in the car. The engine blue color is correct but not the A/C or other external engine parts. They were originally black. Would love to know what this sold for.

  • @Ynzevdz I used to have a 1973 New Yorker with 89k all original and put on 30k and sold it, never had a problem till the tranny gave out but it was 35 years old at the time and I was a kid. I dont know much about them but they are great and when they build these cars it was common to have over sprey on some parts but I am not saying this was or not.

  • @6969Kimmo ---do they like big American cars in Finland --????? Cadillac-Buick--Olds---Dodge--Pontiac--ETC>>>>>>>>

  • Beautiful!

  • Very, very nice car! But 100% original? I don't think so. Somebody repainted the engine and decided to spray the A/C compressor the same color...these compressors should be black, not blue.

There is overspray on the PVC hose on the left side valve cover, clearly not original.

Also there is a red, non original, heater hose. Heater hoses shpuld be black ofcourse. I don't try to be a smartass but I just know this stuff.

  • My father and I each bought a new Newport in '70. His engines internal oil pump failed at nearly 36,000 miles a year and a half later. Though in warranty, he traded for a New Yorker. Mine also failed at nearly 36k, still in warranty. As I was taking it to a dealer years later for a trade, the same thing happened as I coasted into the driveway. Mileage? 73,609. Never bought a Chrysler product since.

  • Thats alright huh?

  • wow what a nice car!

  • I know where there is a 1970 Eldorado with 289 miles on it. When I worked for the Caddy dealer.. She would call to get started, because it sat so long and killed the battery,, When it was in the shop we had to blow the carbs out on the hwy to get it to run right.

  • @carofyourdreams wow in Finland that car walue would been 55-65,000 dollars :D we can get just frame here with that money :D

  • I'm surpized that the engine has not locked up on it sitting so long with such low miles on it thats a rare one of a kind 70 Newport it would make a great Copy car for a restoration of another one like that in the prosses .
