La Piste Perdue, Val D'Isere, France

La Piste Perdue (the lost trail) is unique in the world of downhill skiing. One of the many magnificent trails at Val DIsere, it is only skiable when there isnt too much snow since the exit can be blocked with snow. Sometimes compared to river rafting on skis, the trail runs between the walls of a steep, deep, long box canyon, with cobalt blue skies above. So narrow in spots that side stepping isnt possible, complete with rock wall corners so sharp that bits of skis are evidence of miscalculations this trail is not for the novice unless you want to carry your skis. At the time I skied it, the snow was deep enough that one had to lie on ones back to exit through the hole. The movie was converted from Super 8 so is not the best quality.
