Scott's Poetry Corner, episode four, features a poem "written by" Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It is an ode to his pet cat, Spot.

  • THANK YOU for getting that the first sentence is NOT a question!

Even Data read it as a question in that episode! Grrrrrr!

  • That always really bothered me! I'm glad I wasn't the only one!

  • Good intent, but Data conveys the poem with , surprisingly, more emotion...

  • "Oh Snap..."

  • @CatCommunication: Actually, it IS a question.

Felis Catus, is your taxonomic nomenclature an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature?

IN PLAIN ENGLISH: Non-Roaring Domesticated Cat, is your scientific classification as a four legged, flesh eating and warm-blooded mammal your natural state?

  • I always found it quite funny, as part of Data's way of reciting.

  • I kinda always figured that maybe Brent Spiner didn't have a lot of time to rehearse that scene, and just kinda memorized the words without giving much thought to the way they went.

But, yeah, for the record, NOT a question. lol

(That scene was playing while I registered for youtube, which is where I got my username from!)
