Please excuse the shaky video! I didn't have my tripod with me and I had to zoom in a bit. He was on the opposite side of a canal from me, Anyway, this is a barred owl having a lively conversation with one of his buddies in a swamp that's about a 10 minute drive from my home in south Louisiana. I'm learning to use a reed type owl call, and even though I haven't perfected the technique yet, (I can reasonably imitate their calls. Getting better) I got these two guys to respond. I saw the second owl a few minutes later. It was getting dark soon, so I guess they were discussing what they wanted for dinner that night. I had the treat of seeing this one swoop down and snatch something out of the water right at dark. It was something small, like a lizard or a crawfish (crawdads, or crayfish in other places, but here in Cajun Country it's "crawfish"). I've been a hunter since I was a small child and I've seen lots of barred owls, but never witnessed one grabbing his supper. I just wish I could have gotten that on camera. It was a really cool thing to see. I get out and do this once in a while. Now that deer season's over it gives me an excuse to get out of town and spend a little time among the swamp critters. Just have to keep an eye out for cotton mouth snakes and alligators. There's TONS of them! Anyway, I hope you enjoy. Please comment.
@shaydie Thanks for the comment. I hadn't thought about that, but yeah, they do sort of resemble monkeys. I guess it's the round head and forward looking eyes. They sure can sound like monkeys. You should check out the "Louisiana Swamp Critters" video. It's this video, combined with more. You may also like "Cajun Fun in Gator Country", and "Later Gator" on my channel. @SCduckwhacker234 One day before sunrise I was up a tree on my deer stand bowhunting. When there was enough light, I saw one in the next tree about 10 feet away staring at me at eye level. He was calm, like he knew I was a fellow hunter and we were both there for the same reason. He casually flew off into the swamp. That night walking out after dark I heard a high, raspy squeal and a "hoo-HOOOOOO-aww" from a nearby tree in the dark. I smiled, thinking about my "hunting buddy" from that morning.

Hey startazz, I do have some short alligator clips. They don't stay visible very long, at least not during the day. Easier to spot them at night with a light by their eyes shining, but difficult to video at that time. Anyway, stay tuned and I'll have some posted. Thanks for watching and commenting.
