Andrea Falk doing the first two palm changes of the dragon form, MaGui bagua system. This was done back in October. Sorry we don't put up many videos. I realised that if I kept waiting to get it perfect then we'd never post anything. We always seem to be training in the dark, too, which makes video a bit tricky.

  • A question about this type of bagua (and others like it): If bagua is about dealing with multiple opponents, (which is the reality of most fights) how can moving this way with all of the dead still stops and pauses deal with more than one person? and how do all of the breaks and pauses not break the energy flow of the form?

  • We have other training that is done at continuous and/or high speed. During the changes we work on clean footwork, body connection, body alignment, etc. Stopping should not break power or energy, but enhance it. Once the body has sorted all this out, the quick training makes more sense and has more power. Would you rather face a sitting tiger or a dog running around? We try to develop the abilities of the tiger, not the dog. Doing the changes like this is actually harder than doing them quickly

  • @onemindonespirit also want to keep in mind that the techniques themselves (and how they are practiced) aim to develop, nourish and strengthen the tissues (tendons, muscles etc) so one can (later on down the line) move quickly and maintain power. Depending upon the level of the student, the season and the area of focus (power, technique, qi, blood shen) one will modify how bagua is practiced. Great question BTW

  • @durkhrodchogori Thank you very much for the need to comment on a conversation started over 2 years ago--it was so very much needed. I'm not talking about wushu in any shape or form. You can move very slowly and SILL not be having any breaks and pauses in your form, unlike what we are seeing in this clip. In a word, it's crap and I highly doubt any legit master ever trained this way.

  • That was great... Thank you for sharing.

  • well i am well in impress.you go girl.ilove to go to one of your Seminar to improve my basic connection.i m not quite connected yet .it is alway good to watch and learn.internal are so hard to see what the body his doing under the skin .

  • Great vid thanks for posting!!

  • looks really easy , james showed me bear walking a couple of weeks ago and i have yet been able to make a full circle ha ha. its so exhausting. is the gripping of the feet still as present in the bear walk as in the changes? more videos please :)

  • Yo Andrea really nice work clean good representation and presentation. For all of the haters and know it all's out there (onemindnospirit) what you see on the outside is the obvious, its what's happening on the inside thats where the happenings are. All the fighting are cool but anyone can fight and it does not take a lifetime or a special technique to learn. If fighting is all you want to major in, in this life then what a waste. Very small spirit Mr one mind I hope thats not all you've got.

  • When it comes to in-depth arguing about complex movements over the internet using only text, the aphorism about internet arguing and the special olympics holds true. I'll just say neither one of us knows what the other is talking about and take my exit before this gets ugly.

  • You are correct with your first statement, partially, but that doesn't end the issue. Being double weighted is very much about what your own body is doing. Double weighted is double weighted, unless you believe that all of a sudden an opponent makes up for this within your own body.

As for the second statement, if a car comes to a complete stop would you say that you are still going? No. To begin again you have to start to accelerate once more. Hence double weighted, hence, breaks and pauses.

  • Double weighted refers to one's weight depending on one's opponet.

Just because the feet stop moving, does not mean that the momentum has been lost.
