i love the cutscene after this lvl, just startyed the game bout 20mins ago. just finished this lvl. though i cant do the thing where you jump onto the spikes =(

With the pistols you can´t kill them at all. One has to use the explosive crossbow quarrels, or blow them off some ledge with the shotgun.

If you compare it to this old run, then you are right, but if you compare it with my 5:25 run, then no. Well, he did achieve 4 seconds better time, but that's only because of the shells, which I had to take in order to have enough ammo for later. He didn't have to take them since his run is individual.
