@irishgeal1 Passengers DO NOT have to keep their seatbelts on until the cruise. It's standard procedure to remove seatbelts at the transition altitude (usually FL100), least in the UK and Europe. They only have to keep their seatbelts on for extended periods IF significant meteorological conditions are encountered or the pilots choose to for some reason.

hold on a minute all you ass lickers making out the pilots to somehow be a hero, doh, all passengers have to wear there seat blets until they reach cruising height, the captain must have taken off without his seat belt on, as he was still 6000 ft from cruising height, making him a danger to the flight, this incident proves that pilots should and must wear there belts at all times while in control of any plane from take off till touch down, apart from restroom breaks, period.
