From 1975. This was recorded off PBS in the early 90's, but I was told that on CBS, this segment had different music.

I would love to know what song is playing in that video. It sounds like a "Schoolhouse Rock" type song but I can't find it. Anyone have any idea what the name of it is?

Actually, from what I understand quite a few of the songs used on the PBS run of "Captain Kangaroo" were by some of the same people that were behind "Schoolhouse Rock"...

Yeah I remember watching this skit , but don't remember ever hearing this song. i watched the Captain on CBS, but never saw any of the PBS shows. I wonder how many of the original skits were re-used for PBS ? My favorite segments were Bob Keeshan as the Town Clown. Did PBS ever use any of those skits ?

I don't know-I want to say no, because almost all of the sketches used on the PBS version were from 1980 or later. There were exceptions, though-such as this episode and a few others that I know of. But I do know that one of the Town Clown segments were released on VHS in the mid-80's (I posted that one on this channel as well, if you haven't found it yet).

Actually, this is the third song that they used for this here. "And The Band Played On" was the first.

Then around the beginning of the "Good Morning Captain" years, it was replaced by a song whose lyrics went something like "What makes women so changeable? I guess I'll never know." It was a nice little song.

The song used here was dubbed in when this episode aired on public television.
