A lovely mellow piece!

Yes.I detect a certain amount of buyers remorse on the forums. I think some people bought their Tenori-On's expecting it to be something different from what it is. Whereas I bought my Tenori-on because it is something completely different :)

Nice smooth sound.
How do you find using the Tenori-On as a midi controller? Any headaches, or does it work "straight out of the box"?

I would say somewhere in between. There is no support from Yamaha or Roland to use these two together. I just "knew" it would work because the SonicCell is a 16 part multi-timbral sound module and the Tenori-On is a 16 part multi-timbral midi controller. I did get sounds out of it right away upon hookup and the Roland software was not hard to learn. It took some doing to learn to create a custom drum set that doesn't change as you change modes. Felt like a genius when I accomplished that.

One of the things that persuaded me to buy my Tenori-On was its MIDI support. I thought that I could use it as a MIDI controller if its built in sounds were as poor as some people were saying on forums. However now I have my own I have yet to use its MIDI interface, the internal sounds have kept me going so far.

Exactly! I played strictly internal sounds for more than a year completely satisfied. Anyone who complains about the T-O soundset hasn't dug in and experimented with octaves and note lengths. As much fun as I'm having with the sound module, I still play with internal sounds half the time. Either way, brilliant instrument, great fun.
