This review doesn't really say what you need to do.
You need to charge by pullin in the ion's around the level. The more ion's you gather the more powerful your gun is when it releases the ions.
The object isn't to clear the "bad guys". You can wait for bad guys to spawn and kill them again and again but the stage doesn't clear until you clear all the floating debris. Also, you can hold you trigger all you want but if you're not close to the floating ion's then you get nothing.
