MY NEIL YOUNG BLOG
http://neilyoungbootlegs.blogspot.com/

I'm climbin' this ladder,
My head in the clouds
I hope that it matters,
I'm havin' my doubts.
I'm watchin' the skaters
Fly by on the lake.
Ice frozen six feet deep,
How long does it take?
I look out on peaceful lands
With no war nearby,
An ocean of shakin' hands
That grab at the sky.
I'm singin' this borrowed tune
I took from the Rolling Stones,
Alone in this empty room
Too wasted to write my own.
I'm climbin' this ladder,
My heads in the clouds
I hope that it matters.

  • @plepetit This blows my mind.

  • Don't go and turn this down

    It's only my mind burning

    But still, it's always churning

Though I can't sort it out

Neil is more lucid, and heartfelt, even riding bent Stones piggyback, than any young artist today. And he doesn't want bling, or bitches, or props. He just wants it to matter.

And it does, Neil, to me. Thank you. Very much.

  • @StartRunDMC What is that short poem in the beginning supposed to be? It's just like, "Don't let it bring you down"?

  • Honest to God, I feel sorry for today's kids and 20 somethings. At least kids growing up in the 90's had Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, NIN, STP, and Alice in Chains. I'm just an old fart who's started listening to KROQ again just lately, and there are some cool songs on the radio, but it doesn't seem like any bands have solid and lasting bodies of work. Talent comes out in every decade & era, but rap and hip hop have ruined some of these bands fan bases before they began.

  • @christoJihad2 Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm 16. I've never met anybody in person that was even close of a big of a fan I am though.

  • @theblahman Well said.

  • @christoJihad2

    I agree.

I feel like we are living in a similar time to 1959-64, where music became plastic, commercial and meaningless, and marketed to a young audience that had forgotten what it could be!

I'm not a huge fan of the Foo fighters, but they are obviously valiantly fighting a rear guard action, and rock fans are either flocking to them, or are retreating to their classic rock collections, as there is no viable alternative.

  • @christoJihad2 Ya, well. We have Fleet Foxes.

  • My sweet lady Jane,...

  • How did he not break into tears singing that? :') amazing song.

  • Neil kills it here.

  • @flatpackmatt Its borrowed, he credited them, you may need to hear it in within the context of the whole album, hes in such dispair, he needs to borrow a melody to express his emotions(the protagonist of the song), hes not trying to outdo the Stones, he may even be trying to purposely fail within this regard, but by the way (yes I used the words, im bringing them back) I fuckin love the Stones, and love Lady Jane, but I see this as a different track, all artist borrow and steal, few admit it

  • aiways been one of my fav neil young albums, written and produced in one of his darkest nights, RIP Danny Whitten, Written and recorded in one night after a session on booze and whatever, Danny was my freind and i owe him so much, Neil Young.

  • This is one of my favorite songs period.

  • this is my favorite neil young. hes tha best
