Colorectal cancer is the second-most commonly diagnosed cancer among men and women in Utah. From 1980 to 2006, 15,652 Utahns were diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and between 1980 and 2007, 5,880 Utahns died of the disease. Screening tests can find polyps, so they can be removed before they turn into cancer. Screening tests also can find colorectal cancer early, when the chance of being cured is good.
