Interesting you mentioned insulin resistance, when i changed to Levmir from Protophen i had to increase my night time dose by 20 units ie Protophane when i was using it was 40 units now with Levimir 60 units, and at times is still not enough.

This is because analogues force your insulin receptors to start 'denying entry' to a substance it does not recotgnise as KOSHER. The amino acid sequence in Protophan was similar to natural human insulin polypeptides. The amino acid sequence in Levemir, Lantus, NovoLog, Apidra, and Humalog are not identifiable to the receptors. This is why most Type 2s and many Type 1s on analogues experience insulin resistance. receptors resist it! Thank you for sharing your experience with Levemir, Toranacar!
