Inspired by kmoosmann's "If Quake was done today" video, this Doom level puts you in a familiar place - E1M1's Hangar - but makes you play the way most first-person shooters today are played with cutscenes that disrupt gameplay, regenerating health, linear level design, and more. This is meant to make a statement about games today rather than be an enjoyable level.

(3:15) Unrealistic, CoD would never put enemies on OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE PLAYER. They'd never figure out how to kill them both without dying. Everyone has to run down a straight hallway at you, because that's how we do it in real wars right?

Thankfully, the upcoming Rise of the Triad and Shadow Warrior reboots seem to have what we've all been looking for for years. I'd also highly recommend the Serious Sam games, especially the HD remakes of the originals.

Indeed. Just spent a good hour blasting stuff and running around with Brutal Doom, and it's the most fun I've had with any FPS for years. I really wish they would make another game with this simple type of gameplay.
