The Event wasn't renewed, but the series ended by the arrival of their dying planet through a portal they created.I think the show served it's puprose by the vamps/fallen angels, never to see season 2.When we were have the nuclear meltdon in Japan, they also had a possible nuclear crisis scenario going on, having to do with the rods.Of course they did the attempted release of a virus to kill off humanity to make room for their people.
