If Scotland ever gained it's freedom after any referendum then there would be another lot of elections I believe.

First thing we would hopefully do would be to get rid of any unionist parties then there may not be any need for a party like the SNP?

Either way I think they give us a louder/better voice than Labour does or could.

Perhaps someone could inform me if the SNP have stated such things as i suggested or if you have your own ideas on what will be fair?

Should the UK assets and debts be divided up based on population size, GDP?

Should Scotlands share of the assets go to pay for the cost of independence? Is it really fair the people of England, Wales and NI pay for a choice made by the people of Scotland?

If Scotland wants to leave the UK it should pick up most of the bill in my opinion. Fair?

I can't answer for anyone else, let alone a political pary like the SNP. I'm sure they will have considered these very questions in depth.

If I can, I will try to get hold of their manifesto to see if there are any details in that or anything that mentions the question od UK debts.

I agree that they should let the Scottish people know a bit more about the implications.

They should also tell the Scottish people about the implications of not gaining independence.

Well I do want independence for economic reasons. And cultural reasons. And political reasons. And societal reasons. The immediate bonanza of independence- Edinburgh would become a real capital city (a lot of money involved in foreign embasies) Glasgow would develop fully fledged tv, radio and film industry, Aberdeen would be Europes oil and gas nerve centre, the Highlands its' renewables. Stay with the UK and waste our potential as London centralizes everything and goes nuclear.

I dont see why unionsits are so negative...anyone who says Scotland will be poor after independence has no idea about how a country runs, a country like France or Australia is strong and a first world nation not because they are big nations, but because their government is strong and supports its people same thing as Scotland, the SNP and Alex Salmond are the best, wished we had a FM like him here in Wales...he would make a better PM than Cameron!!

@MrScottishJamie About Oil you are correct - I saw a recent spectator article saying that Scots would indeed get most of the oil.

£1/2bn is what it is estimated Scotland gets net (i.e. the difference between 69 billion from Scottish Trade and the greater amount of money which goes from Westminster to Scotland.

Regarding wars and keeping Scotland, it's a national pride thing and most Conservatives happen to be unionist.
