Doesn't look right. A weaver would pass the yarn over their thumb as the yarn was wrapped around the back. The whole purpose of the knot is to tie the yarn together so that you can hardly see where the knot is.

ssevibubu - it's actually the same as a sheet bend, a common knot in rope, but it's tied differently. The method used in the weavers knot is easier to work in thread or yarn and has the benefit of ensuring that the ends come out the same side, which makes it a bit stronger.
Great demo. Very clearly shows the steps for the weavers knot which I've never quite been able to follow from a book, in spite of knowing the sheet bend for many years. Thanks.

Very well done on showing how to do this. I am working a beading project and have to add in more length. I was completely clueless on how to do that. lol.

Thank-you. My mother always used it when knitting but I never got her to show me how before she died. More than once I have had knots in my knitting come loose so... now no more. :)
