WaterCycle is a bicycle powered water pump used for irrigation in rural African villages. We produced a 10GPM flow rate sufficient enough to irrigate one acre of land in less than 1 hour. We are a student based group from Washington State University and we are actually scheduled to test our prototype in Malawi, Africa in March of 2008. Thanks for watching!

  • would love to see plans for this shared so people can explore this concept...

  • Where can you get the design for building?

    Bmiller

  • why is this for African countries? Why not say that it's something you've designed for PEOPLE to use... Americans might want to use this!!

  • what kind od head does it have?

  • @gelflingfaysuzanne Thank you. Do such places exist in the UK? any idea?? 'CATS' in north Wales web site doesn't seem to cover this.

  • @MarkB1ngham or in the servival shops. self relience sort of places.

  • Ive seen the buckets on heads for miles... so a noteworthy invention and idea! Many many people travel over for short term trips. The struggle i have with water filter systems etc- is getting them there. To make this rock the nations it would need to be light and compact - and able to fit into a small luggage. Most places in the bush dont have much, but maybe simple wood etc, could be used there, or welded there in country.

Customs is also an issue... smaller equipment is easy to get in!

  • i like the idea but where might find all thats mechanic parts and tha name of each one ?

  • I'm, like a lot of people, not very mechanical. Why oh why is something like this NOT available in the shops for allotment gardeners? is it a conspiracy?

  • OK, don't use it then. Carry buckets of water to the one acre field. ummmm.....would like to see you do that!!!
